The Importance of Creaivity

Cabo
According to Ken Robinson, schools kill creativity. He talks about the life of the producer of Cats and Phathom of the Opera. He states that he spoke with her. And she said, "When she was in school they thought something was wrong with her because she could not be still." They later found out that she was a dancer and not a professor.
Robinson uses this story to point out that we are all diverse. Every one is not a excellence student in the classroom, for some are creativity in other aspect.

In this paticular presentation, it tells us as educator that we should not suppress the creativity of our students. We as educators should help develop and bring out the gifts and creativity that our students have in them, whether it may be a dancer, a professor, teacher, football player, basketball player, etc.

I also thought that the presentation was funny, interesting and also deep. Robinson brought out the point that our children lose their creativity by not being prepared to be wrong. According to Robinson when a person gives an answer that we might think is wrong shows the original essence of their creativity. He used the story of his four year old that was in a nativity play. One of the kids that played one of the kings said "I bring you myrrh." Another four year old said, "I bring you gold." And the last four year old said, "I bring you Frank and them." Instead of the play being so searious it became funny. The young child's creativity side came out naturally.

I really enjoyed this presentation. It help me to see that we as teachers must be watchful when it comes to our students creativity. We should be attentive that we might have the next Shakespeare in our class or the next Micheal Jordan. We should recognize that all our students are brilliant in their own way. So let us not take part in killing their creativity. But let us help them find out who they are.
