NPR Podcast on Wikipedia

Virgil Griffith
How and when, if ever, Wikipedia can be a trusted source of information? According to the video on Wikipedia, it can be trusted 90% to 85% of the time. Virgil Griffith invented a Wikipedia Scanner that can trace if someone has tampered with Wikipedia info. So that's one way how we can determine whether or not Wikipedia can be trusted.

When can it be trusted? Only if the scanner device scares the different companies away. In my opinion, Wikipedia in reference to politics and economic issues can never be trusted. I say this because because the government only reveals what they want us to know. And in reference to the economic situations, the different companies only wants to get richer. Tehm becoming richer is for their benefit and the customer.

Can Wikipedia be trusted? I guess my answer would be yes & no. Because it depends on what you are looking for.

  1. I think the Wikipedia Scanner is great progress but Wikipedia still needs a lot of help to be fully trusted.
